Safety: Let Me Tell You a Little Story and my Take on that Event

Let Me Share this little story with you about . . .

a very common, but still, significant incident I experienced on the streets of Miami earlier today.

What’s significant about it? Read the anecdote first.

No!   Keep your hand off that mouse or arrow key    -   You!

Don’t skip it.

Okay, here goes:

I’m driving southward on 72nd Avenue from Flagler toward SW 4th Street, a back road I like taking to avoid heavier traffic, so I could make a left turn and drive eastward.

Well, this is one of those median circle types of four-way intersections and there’s a car coming that’s already on 4th Street and headed east.  Since I’m headed to make a left turn, I yield the right of way, plus I have a stop sign right in front of me.  The car behind me is a super impatient driver and can’t stand to be detained even for a few seconds.

He or she, I didn’t see well, begins honking that horn to get me to respond and move it.  Still, I remain put to get that car on Southwest Fourth Street to proceed.

The driver in the car behind me honks one or two more times and I disregard because I’m a very defensive driver.

Now, the impatient driver behind me goes to my right to bypass me and heads through 72nd Avenue and almost collides with that car that was about to proceed on 4th Street.  It was because the car on 4th Street heading east that broke in time that the collision was averted.

What does this incident teach me about driving in Miami, Florida?

Available Income Opportunity if You Got Your Eyes Open!

Let me repeat what I asked: “What does this incident teach me about driving in Miami, Florida?”

This town is so full of horribly careless and impatient drivers that’s it’s a gold mine for traffic lawyers and for traffic court.

So now, if that driver in that car had been willing to wait a few seconds more and not veered off to try to bypass me, there would have been no risk of a collision. The intersecting car would have proceeded, I would have proceeded next.

And if that carelessly impatient driver in that car had been patient enough, then he or she too would have proceeded.

That would have been one less available gold vein to exploit for either the traffic lawyer or for the traffic court.

Now, let me get to the big picture issue.

Hey Now!  Think - Think very carefully about what I’m about to write down below.

Keep the ears of your mind very well attuned.

Whenever something goes wrong in your life such as a toilet getting clogged or some sort of damage to some appliance or a legal matter or whatever - Hasn’t it occurred to you that there’s almost always someone professional right around the corner to give you professional help to get over that hurdle or a headache or hassle?

So that means

that whenever I let a passion or a fear or a desire think for me instead of my depending on my brains instead to think accurately -   What am I doing here?

I’m providing a money making opportunity for somebody else to make some money off me because I did something stupid, careless, ignorant, or poorly thought out.

And that brings us to that driver behind me on 72nd Avenue.

What would have happened if that driver on SW 4th Street had been less than 1000% attentive?

Money, Mullah! . for the traffic court or for a traffic lawyer to make extra dough to buy something, get laid with, or whatever.

And for who else?

How about the mechanic and the body shops restoring the two cars involved in the collision?

One guy’s insistence that he’s entitled to the road would have cost two people their money, their time, peace of mind, and made money for others who are in business to make money off of foolish decisions on the part of impatient people.
